Place the fresh mint leaves in a mesh strainer and set it inside a teapot with a lid.
Bring the water to a boil in a kettle or saucepan.
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, carefully pour it over the mint leaves and into the teapot.
Cover the teapot with the lid and let the mint leaves infuse in the hot water for approximately 20 minutes.
After the infusion time, remove the lid and gently press the mint leaves with the back of a spoon to release their essence.
